How Malware Works Via Banner Ads
As many deviants know, deviantART has been working hard to combat malicious banner ads that infiltrate
our advertising network, and we've previously addressed this issue in
April 2011
and August 2011.
In our ongoing effort to keep the deviantART community safe, we wanted to share the following
USA Today-produced
video that explains how malicious ads inundate the Web.

Malware advertising is an Internet-wide problem that affects many of the Net's top sites.

deviantART Related Features
As the dA Related Community Volunteer, I am blessed to receive some wonderful DD suggestions sent to me by note! Of course I cannot feature them all as Daily Deviations, but I still like many of these that I don't feature. So here's a feature with some of "the best of the rest" - I hope you will enjoy them as much as I do :happybounce:
Of course, the fact that I chose not to feature them yet as DDs doesn't exclude them from still being featured as such in the future :aww: You're always free to suggest them again :D
A huge thank you to those who suggested these; Shadowelve (https://www.deviantart.com/shadowelve), Mikklings (https://www.deviantart.com/mikklings), jvsef (https://www.deviantart.com/jvsef), AssClownFish (https://www.deviantart.com/assclownfish), :devma
So, over the last 6 or so months people have been noticing that deviantART has been getting hit by malicious spammers.
The current trend of these spammers is to favourite an image of yours and then when you reply on their page you get a message along the lines of "I really liked your work. Hey I just got this free X Item and thought I should share it with you." These are all spammers, the links lead to potentially malicious sites. We have been blacklisting these websites and banning all the spammers we can find.
However we need your support in this, we need you to report them too us. We have a section of the help desk dedicated to reports a

Day of Silence Ended...
Since the day of silence has ended and it was in support of the LGBT community against bullying... I propose we have a day to speak out. Speak kind words to people you don't know, Joe Shmoe walking down the street, the lady in line next to you at the gas station, the kid sitting next to you in class... Say something pleasant, something encouraging, something to lift their spirits. You never know, you may have just saved someone's life. :aww:
Ok, when I was young, in my 3rd university year, I remember I was going out a saturday night with my friends and we randomly met other group of people (they were like 15 or so...).
We were talking about funny uni-related things and then I suddenly said:
- "Oh, did you know I've been said that in "Child Education" there are 149 girls and only one boy? And the best of all is they told me that boy is gay, so imagine, I guess he's not interested in any of those 149 girls at all ~foreveraloneplz (https://www.deviantart.com/foreveraloneplz)"
Then a boy from that group we recently met replied to me in a really camp way:
- "Oh well, I'm studying Child Education and I'm the only boy in

I have to Rant for a moment.
Seriously. Why can people not use their own creativity? WHY must people strive to be cattle?!
Artists are a breed of their own. We do not conform. We do not follow. We lead. We strive for greatness. We work towards that ONE masterpiece.
So.. why am I finding this image :thumb295184372: with comments disabled? I am finding it because this person does not want to stand on their own two feet. They want, WANT, to be the cow in the herd. And they don't want to be called out. Well, I am calling you out. ART is not putting an artistic filter on an already taken photo (that was not taken by you) and then hitting it with a motion blur. ART is using
It's sad to see people fighting about intellectual property rights when they apparently have no clue what those are, how they work and what is allowed (and not).
Prime example: http://boltstrueno1fanever.deviantart.com/art/Onyx-Forepaw-Feb-2012-Ref-286737985 vs. http://fav.me/d4vcima
Obviously the latter is similar to the first.
The question is: is this allowed?
To answer that question, it is important to understand what rules apply and what intellectual property (IP) is.
There are three different kinds of IP that can apply here:
1. Copyright
As the name hints this is the right to make copies of a work.
